“Yin” Manitou Ana Quat “Spirit within a Cloud” Loon/Catfish Clan of Batchewana and Garden River Ojibwe Territory
Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the age of 61. Cherished father of Tyler, Jasmine (Benjamin), Cody (Constance), Amanda (Daniel) and Justice. Proud grandfather of Saphira, Lia, Dominick and Darius. Brother of Sharon “Dolly” Syrette (Raymond), Elizabeth Jones (late Gordie) and Wayne Syrette (Linda). Predeceased by his parents Victoria and Justin Syrette as well as his siblings Harold “Jiggs”, Ronnie (Judy) and Marie “Sweetheart”. Yin will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be fondly remembered by his dear friend Vicki Eagle Elk as well as his many special friends. He will be missed by his loyal furry friend, Buddy. He was a mentor to many throughout his life, some would even consider him a father figure. His kind heart, big smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Brother Al touched many hearts with his teachings, songs, drumming and stories. His humour could put a smile on anyone feeling down. His stories you could listen to forever and those memories will never fade. Being a survivor made him a very strong man and he passed that strength on to all of us. Friends and family are invited to visit at the Rankin Arena Thunderbird Room beginning on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. A maximum of 25 people is permitted in the room at one time. Masks or face coverings are required. A Graveside Service will be held at Garden River Cemetery on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. Memorial donations to the Nimkii Naabkawagan Batchewana Family Crisis Shelter or the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you to all our friends and family near and far for their kindness, love and support throughout Dad’s journey, as well as all of his nurses and doctors here at the Sault Area Hospital and Health Sciences North in Sudbury. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
