Obituary of Maria Demarco

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother with her children by her side, on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Loving wife and caregiver of the late Domenic. Devoted mother and mentor of Claudio, Elena and Sylvia Posteraro (Gino). Loving Nonna of her precious grandchildren Christopher Dorans (Kaitlin Cupido), Jeffrey Dorans, Alexandria and Ryan Posteraro. She was so proud of each one of them and they filled her with joy. Born in Domanico, Cosenza, Italy to the late Santo and Teresa Bruno. Cherished sister of Rosetta Tesconi (late Amadeo) of Italy, late Elena Greco (late Luigi), late Giovanni Bruno (Mara) of Calgary, Carmela Guido (late Alfredo) and Mafalda Barone (late Angelo). Sister-in-law of Cesira Giraldi (late Vincenzo) of Toronto. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her many nieces and nephews. Maria cherished all the friendships she had over the years, often sharing fond memories made with the late Rosina Caicco, late Fenice Iachetta, late Camilla Silvano, Franca Gioia, Isabella Cerasuolo and Paolina Bernardo. Our mother was a sweet and generous person. She would give in abundance to others without expecting anything in return. She was always appreciative when others did things for her. In her final weeks, she was thankful for the dedicated doctors, nurses and PSW’s who worked hard to take care of her and keep her comfortable. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Due to the current pandemic there is a maximum attendance restriction of 40 attendees in the Funeral Home at one time – no appointment is necessary. Mandatory for everyone is the use of hand sanitizer, masks or face coverings and physical distancing of 2 meters unless members of the same household. A private family service will be held. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. If you wish to attend the Graveside Service you are invited to arrive at Northwood Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. and park in procession, please remain in your vehicles upon arrival. The cemetery can accommodate up to 100 attendees and masks are mandatory. Memorial donations to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
