Obituary of Florence McCauley

Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of Florence McCauley are very sad to announce the passing of their beautiful Mother, Gramma, Gigi in her 93rd year. She was loved by many, friends, and extended family. Everyone enjoyed being around her. She was funny, always happy, and very loving. If you had met her for the first time, she would love you forever. She loved people, music, family, and most of all her late husband who was the love of her life. She will join her much loved husband, the late Herman McCauley who left this world in 1997. A day never went by that she never mentioned him. The best Mom in the world to her 3 daughters: Marilyn Smith (Kim) of Burlington, Janice Clement (John) of Brantford and Cheryl Martineau (late John) of Sault Ste. Marie. Loved by her 7 grandchildren: Kerri Brailean (Kyle) of BC, Jill Wilfong (Mike) of Brantford, Dean Clement (Megan) of Orillia, Jason Martineau (Andrea) of Sudbury, Travis Martineau (Morgan) of the Sault, Laura Horne (Trevor) of Carlisle, and Jerrod Smith (Candice) of Windsor. Known as GiGi to 12 great grandchildren who she loved very much. And one new baby arriving early March. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Cecile Shaughnessy. She grew up in the home with 8 siblings. Many deceased: Arnold (late Joyce), Helen Pigeon (late Albert), Ruth Mullin (late Bill), John (late Donna) of Calgary and Kenny (Suzy). She is survived by her 2 sisters, June Armstrong (late Gus) of BC, Cecile Fleming (late Clifford) and her brother Gerald (Mary). Loving sister-in-law of the late Robert “Bob” McCauley (Jean), the late Marilyn Jones (late Sam), Geraldine Sarff (late Harold) from Spokane Washington, Gene McCauley (Joan), John McCauley (Maxine) and Carol Cartier. The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses and PSW’s on Apple 2 for loving our Mom and making her stay there more pleasurable. She loved all of you. After Cremation Family are planning a celebration of life in the early spring. Thank you, Rivers Edge Cremation Centre for your Compassion, during this difficult time. Mom’s most precious memories were at Haviland Bay, and we all try to keep her and Dad’s Legacy alive, by making Haviland Bay memories live on in all of us. Memorial donations to the FJ Davy Home Foundation, ARCH or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
