Obituary of Tony Rizzo
Please share a memory of Tony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio Rizzo, with his family by his side, on December 24, 2020 at the age of 73. Tony was born on January 7, 1947 in Campora San Giovanni, Italy. Beloved husband and forever soulmate of Rose (Gioia) of 46 wonderful years. Devoted father and mentor of Frank and Paul; proud father-in-law of Jennifer and Keri. Cherished Nono and best friend, who will be forever missed by Melina, Tiana and Mikayla Rose.
Son of the late Francesco and late Domenica Rizzo. Dear brother of Carmela Boschi (late Fiore) and Nella Pellegrino (late Antonio) of Italy. Cherished son-in-law of Louise and the late Cesare Gioia. Dear brother-in-law of Sam Gioia (Eby) and Julia Bitonti (Tony). Loving uncle of Vince (France), Mario (Jen), Tony (Kim), Maurillio (Maria), Tiziana (Elio), Cesare (Sonya), Mark and Nicole. Nicole was his special Guardian Angel who provided exceptional care to her uncle when he needed it the most.
Tony was a loving, kind and selfless man. He always thought of others before himself, with his family being the centre of his world. Tony was an avid gardener, spending countless hours in his garden with his granddaughters by his side, and as soon as the fruits of his labour were ready to enjoy, he would always wholeheartedly share his first crops with many family, friends and neighbours.
Words or thank you can never express the gratitude that Tony and our family share with all the compassionate healthcare teams that cared for him. A very special thank you to Dr. Rassouli, Paula and all the other wonderful nurses and support staff in both the Cancer Clinic and Chemo Suite; Dr. Karen Booth and team and Dr. Pearce and the radiation team. Sincere thanks to Drs. Buehner, Bowen, Apostle, Alex, Wilson and all the amazing nurses, PSW’s, kitchen and cleaning staff of 3B. May God bless all of you and your families.
Thank you to the Bayshore nursing team for their dedicated home visits, with a heartfelt thank you to Jeff McIntyre who always went above and beyond. Also, thank you to the Home and Community Care team. To all our family, friends and neighbours, we thank you for your endless love and support. We could not have travelled this journey without you.
Due to the current pandemic a private funeral service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the SAH Cancer Clinic or the Precious Blood Cathedral Journey Fund would be appreciated by the family.
Non piangete la mia assenza
Sentitemi vicini
E parlatemi ancora
Io continuero ad amarvi
Al dila della vita
L’amore e l’anima
E l’anima non muore
