Passed away peacefully at Mapleview Extendicare on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the age of 95. We have great peace in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife Lila of 71 years and his loving daughter Claudia (Jim Colizza). Cherished father of MaryAnn Cole (late Lyn), Ronnie (Sandra), Robert (Carol), Diana McComb (Kim), Debbie Garrioch (late Bill), Marty, Susie (Jeff Reeves), Paul, Donny (Lisa) and Karen Collins (Mike). Proud and devoted grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way). Predeceased by his parents Maria Tesolin and Francesco Piccolo and his siblings; Rita Fox (Paul), Leonard (Margaret), Norma Provenzano (Frank Sr.), Mario (Colleen), Corrina Campbell (Ian). Loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Our dad was just not our dad, he was always known for being a mentor and a friend to all. Having 11 kids, the Piccolo house was always full. It didn’t matter if you were one of his kids or just a friend stopping by all were welcome and treated as his own. Anyone who visited our home never left without a full belly or some thing from the garden or homemade salami. Our house was a home filled with so many memories and unconditional love. Claude was a hardworking man and was proud of where he lived. He worked at Algoma Steel for 44 years and sat on the Huron Superior Catholic School Board for 25 years. He was a member of many local groups such the Verdi Club, Sons of Italy, and the Knights of Columbus. He truly enjoyed the friendships and connections he made within each of these organizations and was proud of the work that was accomplished. Claude was an exceptional man in so many ways, his bright smile, generous heart, and storytelling will be missed by all who knew him. A private family service has been held. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758). Memorial Donations can be made to Algoma Autism Foundation or Angelman Syndrome Foundation Canada. Special thank you to the wonderful, loving, and compassionate staff at Mapleview - Ranger Lake Unit.
