Obituary of Gaspare Mazzuca
Please share a memory of Gaspare to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gaspare Mazzuca announce the peaceful passing at the age of 85 on January 5, 2021. He was in the comforting arms of his wife and gave her one last kiss as a beautiful end to the life of a treasured man. Beloved husband of 63 years and forever soulmate of Pina Mazzuca. Devoted and adored father of Angela Guzzo (Eugene) and Dr. Dino Mazzuca (Connie). Proud and cherished Nonno of Marla Guzzo (Adam Slumskie), Vanessa Guzzo (Stefan Staneckyj), Alexzander Mazzuca, Mercedes Mazzuca and Francesca Mazzuca. Dear Bisnonno of Grace Slumskie. Son of the late Luigi and Angela Mazzuca, and son in law of the late Orlando and Assunta Bruni. Brother of the late Carmela Chiarello (Bruno) and the late Arturo Mazzuca (Carmela). Loving brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, Compari and cousin to many.
Family man is a term not appreciated nearly enough these days. Gaspare was the epitome of how great and unselfish it is to put those in your family first. Committed to the happiness of his family, he was always there to lend a helping hand and be an example of hard work and dedication.
Gaspare retired from masonry at Algoma Steel Inc and was fortunate to enjoy 28 healthy years doing what he loved; fishing, hunting, gardening, travelling, and playing his mandolin. The joys of his life were family, music and Pina’s cooking.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service will be held.
To our friends and family and neighbours: We thank you for your endless love and support. Especially thank you to Nina Bruni for her loving support to Pina and our family. We have much gratitude for all the compassion shown to Gaspare and his family by the health care community. A very special thank you to Dr. Karen Booth and to Nurse Mike Jacobson from ParaMed, who went above and beyond for Gaspare. Thank you to the PSWs from care partners and CBI home health care for your tireless work, especially to our regulars Elena, Jennifer, Kayla and David.
The depth of our appreciation cannot be fully expressed to Triesta DelMonte and Kari-Lyn Dale from North East LIN. Your professionalism and compassion allowed for Gaspare to remain home with family and we are forever thankful for the time shared together with him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
