Stan Finn

Obituary of Stan Finn

Please share a memory of Stan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stan at home on Friday, February 12, 2021 in his 90th year. He was surrounded by love and will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 62 years, Esther (Gillis). Loving father of Mary Lou Kennedy (Mike), Debbie Lloyd (Bill), Dona Mathewson (Blair), and Carleen Cameron. Beloved grandpa to Bradley (Lisl), Jeffrey, Logan (Adelchi), Spencer, Riley (Caleb), Liam (Danielle), Cassidy, Paige and Grant. Predeceased by his parents Catherine & Neil Gunn Finn, his dear sister Betty MacDougall (George), and his in-laws Mary & Alexander Gillis. Brother-in-law of the late Aggie Rahal (late George), Buddy Gillis (Connie), Louise MacNeil (Gerry), late Linda Abernot (Dennis), Barbara Winsor (Doug), Margaret Young (Donnie), Leo Gillis (Ann-Marie), Jamie Gillis, Donna Gillis (Al) and Donnie Gillis (Debbie). Adored by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, countless friends, and his special friend Greg Cameron. To know Stan was to know kindness, generosity, caring, and unconditional love. He loved his family more than anything in the world, and made many fond memories with them throughout his life. With countless road trips from Sault Ste. Marie to visit family on Cape Breton Island, bartending for many friends at his cottage on Diamond Lake, and his ability to make everyone laugh when they needed it most, Stan lived his life to the fullest and left a mark on many. He was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, never missing a game, and we are sure that he is now up in Heaven playing the piano and step dancing with his sister Betty, and having a cold beer with his late sons-in-law, Rick Lloyd and Jim Kennedy. Stan was truly an angel on earth, who has now taken his place with God in Heaven. We love you Dad/Grandpa and will miss you forever. A private family service will be held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) with Father Paul Conway officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Group Health Centre Trust Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
