Obituary of Luigi Iaconis

Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Maple View on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 95. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Giuseppina. Cherished father of John (Silvana), Sam (Maria), Joe (Kelly), Maria Guzzo (Lenny), Frank (Dana) and Tony (Traci-Lee). Loving Nonno of Luigi “Lou” (Tristina), Jason, Sarah, Andrew, Christopher, Grant (Sheri), Penna (Corey), Elizabeth (Matt), Jeffrey, Jessica and Michael. Great Nonno of Sophia, Victoria, Fiona, Michaela, Lorenzo, Quinn, Peyton and Shane. Predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Maria Teresa Iaconis. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Antonio, Maria, Costanza and predeceased by Francesco Savario, Salvatore, Giuseppe, Battista and their families in Europe. Luigi will also be missed by the members of the Foglia, Mangone and Carchidi families. He came to Canada in 1958 to make a better life for his family but always remembered his Italian heritage when making wine and salami. He was hardworking and a devoted family man. Luigi loved the outdoors, spending countless hours in his garden with his furry friend Tiber by his side and always enjoyed the time spent with family. Dad, we will forever have your love in the homes you helped us build. A private family service will be held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A Celebration of Luigi’s life will be announced at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation or the Sault Ste. Marie Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to the Maple View Staff, especially Ranger Lake for their care and compassion shown to Luigi and his family over the years.
