Obituary of Margaret Hill
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with greatest sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 92 with family by her side.
Her greatest joy was her children Clifford (late Jane), James (Susan), Carol Devost (Reg), late Larry (late Maureen) and Allan (Leanne). She cherished her 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Margaret was born October 1, 1928 to parents Clifford James and Jean Collins in Little Current on Manitoulin Island. She is survived by sister Joyce Farquhar and predeceased by sister June Morphet.
Margaret excelled in school and became a teacher in Prince Township, where she married Wilbert Hill in 1950. Together, they created a successful dairy farming business in Thessalon, Ontario. Margaret had a strong work ethic. After farming and raising their five children she joined Algoma Steel where she was the first woman to work in the Chemistry Laboratory and proudly retired at the age of 69. Concurrently she owned and managed the MiniMaid franchise in Sault Ste. Marie and area. As well she owned and operated numerous rental income properties.
A private family Celebration of her Life will take place this summer. Memorial donations to MADD or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A special thank you to the staff at the FJ Davey Home on Apple 2 for their care and compassion.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
