Obituary of Jill Milne
Please share a memory of Jill to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Affectionately known as “Grandma Jill” to everyone, Darlene Isobel Jill (O’Leary) Milne passed away with her son at her side, just five days shy of her 81st birthday. Saddened by the loss of their mother are Steve (Susan) and Grant along with her grandchildren Melissa, Brandon, Nigel, Spencer and Jarvis as well as her four great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are Jill’s siblings Jack, Jim and Margo, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Grandma Jill lived a simple life, most of it spent in Bayview where she raised her boys with her husband, Bootsie (Cecil), however, she never forgot her roots often remarking that the fresh smell of manure reminded her of her hometown in the Ottawa valley. Once her family expanded, there was nothing Jill loved more than rocking her grandchildren and great grandchildren until they fell asleep, tightly wrapped in her arms. A woman of faith, Grandma Jill is resting with her mother Grandma Doll’s prayer beads in her hand. They will now be together again.
Abiding by her wishes of no fuss or fancy, there will be no service. Instead, we will celebrate Jill’s life and the simple things that will always remind us of her – perfume, Elvis, country music and that wonderful sound of her voice when she answered the phone yyyheelllow. Goodbye Grandma Jill. We love you. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
