Obituary of William Singleton
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away peacefully in his 98th year with his loving wife by his side. We are eternally grateful to have had the benefit of his presence for so many years.
Bill is survived by his wife Colleen (pre-deceased by Millie), daughters Connie (Kenn), late Gail, Penny, stepdaughters Kathleen (Bruce), Melanie (David), stepson Jay. Forever loved by his grandchildren Bryan (Kim), Tanya (James), Michelle (Brad), Luke (Sarah), and Cait. His great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Michelle, Danny, Bradley, Wesley, Aimee, Bailey, Noah, Anja, Reija, Peyton, and Vivianne will miss Poppa’s whistling lessons.
Friends and family will remember how much he loved to tell a story of his days in Dunn’s Valley, his career with Anthony Domtar, and his winters in Arizona. Bill had a memory like a steel trap and could recount days gone by with ease. He was in his glory when surrounded by family and friends. He loved dancing and a good orchestra, curling, golf, and the Blue Jays. You were hard pressed to find people he did not know in the Algoma District and his ability to remember names was nothing short of remarkable.
A WWII veteran, he was extremely proud of his service to his country and maintained a close connection to the Royal Canadian Legion.
We are truly blessed to have great memories to sustain us.
Due to COVID restrictions and as per Bill’s wishes, there will be a private service. Memorial donations made to ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
