Obituary of Bernadette Nadeau
Passed away, peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the age of 89. Being from a French Canadian home Dedette was the first girl out of 20 siblings. Yes, that’s right....20! Their home in Rouyn, Quebec was a happening place where she helped raise her siblings which she loved so much. She is now singing and dancing to all the chanson a répondre (French songs) with her beloved husband, Charlie, her cherished daughter, Lise and her siblings just like they did so many times before. Celebrate maman!
Mom and Dad had 6 kids which over time doubled when we all got married. We were all her kids, Andre and Arla, Ivan and Gail, Lucie and Ivan, Lise and Eddy, France, Suzie and Mike. Mom didn’t talk about God and the Bible all the time, but her actions taught us to follow the example of Jesus by showing us all unconditional love. She made everyone feel loved and that they belonged even all the friends we would bring home. There was always room for more at the table. No matter what was said or done, she taught us to forgive. “Big Grandma” will be missed by her 12 grandkids and their spouses. As the grandkids got older it was a comforting bowl of hangover soup and it was always a bowl of love and hugs from mom, grandma or big grandma otherwise known as great grandma. The great great grandchildren unfortunately missed these precious times, but they were always in her prayers. Dedette will be fondly remembered by her many siblings and their families.
A private family service will be held. Memorial donations to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or ARCH would be greatly appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Great Northern Retirement Home and ARCH for the care and compassion shown to Mom and our family.
A prayer that mom always said was that she go home before any more of her children, and we are thankful that God answered her prayer. She is now living in the house of the Lord forever with no more tears and no more pain and she can continue to love Jesus perfectly for eternity. We celebrate that for her just as she would want that for all of us. It is comforting to think she will hear Jesus say Well done good and faithful servant.
