Obituary of Darlene McConnell Baxter
Peacefully, in her home and into the Arms of The Lord, while surrounded by her Children and Grandchildren on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at the age of 66. Loving Mom to Amy (Joel), Megan (Nathan) and Grant (Amanda). Nana to Noah, Eliot, Summer, Lyon, and Keona. Daughter to the late Charles Darol ‘CD’ McConnell and the late Kathryn ‘Kay’ White. Sister to Sandii, Patti (Olaf), Jeff (Doreen) and the late Lance (Wendy). Caring Auntie to her nieces and nephew. Special niece and cousin to many beloved family members, locally and abroad. Encouraged and cherished by dear friends and confidantes she met at seminary and through the various ministries she participated in.
Darlene was born August 10th, 1954 in Sault Ste Marie. Though she spent her early years in the Soo, her family moved to the Echo Bay Area and Darlene grew up a country girl. She is fondly remembered for twirling baton, riding horses at Bar-X, racing snow machines, enjoying farm life on the Echo River at Grandma and Grandpa White’s, Back-packing across Europe, and her altogether adventurous spirit.
Darlene was known in the community as a caring and giving person. Her business, Northern Senior Partners, provided her an opportunity to support seniors who wished to stay in their homes. Darlene gained many meaningful relationships with her clients and their families. Some have passed before her and some may still remember her. They never left her thoughts and prayers.
Darlene was strong in her faith in Jesus and honouring Him gave her joy. She took many opportunities for teachable moments and she taught us of God’s unfailing Peace through her journey with cancer.
‘Peace I leave with you; my Peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.’ John 14:27
