Obituary of Niimkiins Breen
“My people are sad; I want them to smile because I was born”.
Peacefully, on Monday, May 17, 2021, at the age of fifteen, you passed surrounded by those who loved you endlessly. Cherished son of Shayne and Line Breen. Loving little brother of Kayla Breen-Sloane (Brian) of Elliot Lake, Kelsey Breen (Trevor), Thomas Breen (Megan), Kabrena Breen (Matt) and Cece, all of Sault Ste. Marie. Adored uncle Kiki to Lucas and Mia Sloane of Elliot Lake. Special nephew of Shawn Breen (Hey! Hey! Hey!) and Anne Marie Graveline of Elliot Lake, Roger and Joanne Cayen of Barrie, Angele Cayen and Craig McFadzean of Edmonton, Tyson and Brandy Dannrath, John and Wendy Elliott, Kandyce and Doug Porter all of Sault Ste Marie, and Scott Breen of Elliot Lake. Grandson of Richard and Gisele Cayen and predeceased by Thomas and Audrey Breen and Dorris and Robert Boissoneau. Niimkiins will be missed by so many cousins, friends and family, he made it impossible not to steal your heart. Niimkiins was a fighter and fought until the end. He was an extraordinary boy who overcame incredible odds throughout the years. For those who knew Niimkiins know that his smile and laugh alone could fill a room with joy like no other.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Kirk Zufelt and Toni Waite for all their compassion and support over the past fifteen years. A special thank you to Shirley Yun and Dawn Dumas from Bayshore for their dedicated care. We are ever so grateful for Lisa Pearlman and the London Health Complex care team for their medical guidance and constant dependability. An extended thank you to all the Paediatric staff at the London Children’s Hospital and Sault Area Hospital. We will forever be grateful to have had the support of such an amazing health care team over the years. Also, a thank you to Niimkiins special friend Donna Waboose and to Father Jerry for his spiritual care and guidance.
Due to current Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated by the family to the THRIVE Child Development Centre Foundation (formerly known as Children’s Rehab Centre). We only ask that you honour Niimkiins greatest gift; share a smile. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure”.
We will miss you dearly Niimmers, you will always be in our hearts and memories.
