Obituary of Harry Edgar Burke

Passed away after a brief illness, at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 95, with his family at his side. Harry is predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Hooey). Cherished father of Janice and Bruce. Proud grandfather of six and great grandfather of eight. Harry was born in Tarentorus in 1925 to Morton and Bertha Burke. He attended Sault Collegiate, University of Toronto, and Osgoode Hall Law School. He worked for the City of Sault Ste. Marie before moving to the Algoma District School Board of Education, where he was Superintendent of Business until his retirement in 1986. 

Due to the current pandemic, a private family service will be held. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care staff at the Sault Area Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Harry. A heartfelt thank you to his many neighbours and family who helped him have an independent life for as long as he was able. Whether it was shovelling the driveway, maintaining his yard, providing meals, or offering conversation and gossip, he appreciated all of it and your kindness will never be forgotten.
