Obituary of Kurt Jens Jorgensen RDT, DT

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye. Kurt passed away at home surrounded by the love of his wife and family. Beloved husband of Joan Preston for 38 years. Proud and loving father of Pia Jorgensen (George Nixon), Jens Jorgensen of Toronto, Lise Jorgensen (Joe Peters) of Ottawa and Peter Jorgensen of Ottawa. Adored Mor Far of Dana Mattioli (Travis Tormala) and Nathan McLlwain. Far Far of Ariana, Trista and Kyla Jorgensen of Toronto and Sam and Emily Jorgensen of Ottawa. Ola Far of Olin and Elio Tormala of BC. Kurt was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to the late Elly Molin and the late Helmer Jorgensen. Dear brother of the late Brita Mizzi and Vic Mizzi (Linda). Uncle of the late Peter Mizzi and Mark Mizzi. He will be dearly missed by his close cousin in Denmark, Vibeke Faber (Jon). Kurt will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and extended family on Joan’s side.

Kurt came to Sault Ste. Marie in 1960, following his much-loved sister, Brita. He was a Registered Dental Technician and owner of Jorgensen Dental Laboratory for over 35 years. A highly rated chess player, he loved painting wildlife and special portraits. Kurt was an avid kayaker, a jazz pianist and had a love for all jazz music. He loved nothing more than to spend his time with his family. Pia will miss the special times on Friday’s and many family smorgasbords with Akvavit and one last toast with Far.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated by the family. We are forever grateful to Dr. Culina and the care staff at BayShore. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
