After a courageous battle with cancer, Orlando passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the age of 81. Loving soulmate of Gioconda “Connie” (Cuglietta) for 57 years. Beloved Father of Jimmy (Angel), Sam (Kerry), Jerry and Mary Lou (Micheal). Cherished Nonno of Mariah, Olivia, Gavin, Julianna, Matthew and Patrick. Son of late Eugenio Rizzo and late Maria Rizzo. Brother of the late Ida Palermo (late Luigi) of Italy, Alfie Rizzo (late Paula) (Nellonne), and Amedeo Rizzo (Sharon). Son-in-law of the late Guiseppe and the late Maria Cuglietta. Brother-in-law of the late Rosa Rosella (Luigi), late Emma Caicco (Frank), Yolanda Marrelli (late Carmen), Teresa Brunetti (Frank), Gus Cuglietta (Mary) and Half Brother- in-law of Gino Cuglietta (Tanya), and Gesella Cresta (Carmen). Stepbrother-in- law of Ines Caputo (late Orlando). Uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

 

Orlando was born on May 13, 1940, in Aiello Calabro, Italy. He came to Canada in 1950 working at various restaurants and then started at the Roddis plant in 1953, then to Algoma Steel for the next 35 years. After retirement Orlando enjoyed working for Joe Giordano as a limo driver for Hollywood Limousine. He loved having his family around him and gathering for meals together. He had a passion for gardening, and salami making. Orlando enjoyed his casino visits and made many friends there. He loved watching hockey and wrestling. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

 

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A private family service will be held due to capacity limits. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum. Those who wish to attend the entombment are invited to come in procession from the funeral home. Please arrive by 1:20 p.m., park in procession and remain in your vehicle. Cemetery capacity is limited to 75 guests. Masks and physical distancing are required both inside and outside during all funeral proceedings. Memorial donations to ARCH or The Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Special thank you to the staff at the Sault Area Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Orlando and our family.
