Obituary of Lucie Lebouef

It is with broken hearts that the family of Lucie announces her peaceful passing at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the age of 66. Beloved husband and best friend of Ivan. Cherished mother of Renee Brisson (Rheal) and Brad (Jane). Proud Grandmother of Peyton, Katherine, Owen and Isaac. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Bernadette Nadeau. Loved sister of France Crack, Suzie Hanson (Mike), late Lise Fortino (Eddie), Andre Nadeau (Arla) and Ivan Nadeau (Gail). Lucie will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and her dear friends Louise McLean, Carol Johnston and Rita McGonegal.

Lucie was born in Rouyn Noranda, Quebec but spent the majority of her youth and all of her adult life in Sault Ste. Marie with her siblings.  At a young age, she enjoyed hanging out with friends and soon got introduced to her childhood sweetheart, who later became her husband, Ivan.

It wasn’t long after completing high school that they were married and began the next 48 years of their lives together.  Early on, they spent much of their first couple of years hanging out with friends, family and made memories before taking the plunge into parenthood. 

Being a proud French speaking Mom, she provided a great gift to her kids by enrolling them in French school.  It was a mom’s burden to teach and coach both kids through a second language but a gift that both her kids truly appreciate to this day.  Not only did this forced discipline allow her kids the advantage of a second language but it opened the door for improved family connectivity including many annual trips to Quebec for the annual “Party des Poirier”!  Many stories were told each year and valuable family memories were made.

Lucie was always very proud of her kids and spent as much time as possible attending and participating in their events and getting to know their friends.  Many hours were spent at athletic events, dance halls and being the mom taxi for both her kids and their friends.  She was always very welcoming and enjoyed having the company even if it meant a little extra mess to clean up.

After the kids moved away, Lucie and Ivan began to take annual trips with friends and family.  When not traveling to new places, they travelled to familiar ones and could often be found travelling to Newfoundland or to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to be with their daughter, son and families.  As a proud Grandma of four, she would often jump at the opportunity to play Grandma and spoil the kids while the parents were away.  Her Grandkids absolutely loved having Grandma around and still talk to this day about the laughs they shared together.  She was a tremendous Grandmother.

She always led by example and believed in the value of hard work.  Never shied away from rolling up her sleeves and wanted her family to have and be the best they could.  She set a very high bar for all of us to follow.  Known as a chronic worrier, we would often tease her and create lavish stories to get the famous eshh… that she became very accustomed to doing.  Anything outside of her comfort zone was bound to cause some sleepless nights and her kids made sure to join in some of that fun. Best of all, she was a joy to be around.  Fun, loving and always focused on family.

At Lucie’s request, there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). 

She leaves this earth way too early but leaves her mark on all our hearts.
