Obituary of Anibal Jose Lopes

Please share a memory of Anibal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Sara of 56 years. Loving father of Maria Bergeron (Mark) and Jose Lopes (Jennifer). Best Grandpa to Kelsey and Taylor Bergeron & Jesse and Jake Lopes. Special brother to Irene Carpinteiro (late Duarte) and Parinho to Amelia Marques (Frank), Sara Monteiro (Ray) and the late Manuel Carpinteiro. Anibal will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, Portugal and France.

Anibal had an adventurous and full life. In 1957, he immigrated to Canada from Portugal, hoping to build a better life for himself and his family. He worked hard at achieving every opportunity he was given by always keeping his goal of a better life in mind. Anibal was a generous man, always helping others accomplish their own goals along the way. Most of all, he cherished his family and was happiest with his grandchildren around.

In accordance with Anibal’s wishes, a private family service will be held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. The service will stream live through the Northwood Funeral Home Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/northwoodfuneralhome/.
