Obituary of Rita Mae Hollingsworth

Passed away at the Collegiate Heights Retirement Residence on Monday, August 2, 2021, in her 98th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Lynn Hollingsworth (2011). Loving mother of Wendy Gardiner, Susan Ouellette (late Michel), Lynn Hollingsworth (Jocelyne Boutin), Paul Hollingsworth and Ann Melville (James). Grandmother to Ryan Gardiner (Katy), Andrea Chabot (Mark), Stephanie Ouellette, Elissa Ouellette (Wayne), Kevin Melville (Mallory) and Michael Melville (Cissy).  Special Great-grandmother of Jack, Olivia and Jason Gardiner and Kayden and Chance Thompson.  Daughter of the late John and Ethel Johnston.  Sister of the late Helen O’Connor and sister-in-law of the late Ian Hollingsworth (late Helen), Marie Frossard (late Al), and the late Simpson Hollingsworth (late Mhora). 

Rita Mae was a dedicated mother who entertained friends and family with her sharp wit and sense of humour.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Fera and Dr. Nicki Apostle for their exceptional care. We would also like to thank the many caregivers of Premier Homecare Services and Collegiate Heights who provided Rita Mae with exceptional kindness and compassion in her final years.

At Rita Mae’s request, no services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
