Passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of the late Lena. Loving father of Tammy Finlayson (Martin), Terri Finlayson, Christina Forest (Marc), Karen Daynard (Danny) and the late Darrell. Cherished grandfather of Bobby, Brad and Chad Finlayson (Jordyn), Chaney Finlayson, Mitchell McCaig, Luc (Kathryn), Adan Forest and Michelle Murphy (Dennis), Derek (Amanda), Travis (Trisha) and Celina Daynard and great grandfather of 16. Brother of the late Maxine MacKinnon (John), late Deanna Petingalo (late Dominic), late Jesse Jr. and Marty. Brother-in-law of Norman Barsanti (Emillee), Arthur Barsanti and Mary-Ann Carr (Ed). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Dewayne grew up in Sylvan Valley on his grandparent’s farm where his love for the countryside began. He loved to spend his days fishing, hunting, trapping and building his camp. He had a passion for music, travel and journaling. Dewayne was a simple man, selfless and grateful for his family and treasured friendships. He was beloved and cherished by many and will be deeply missed. A private family graveside service will be held. A family celebration of Dewayne’s life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to ARCH or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to SAH Emerg Doctors Shawn Gravelle and Jim Boseovski as well as the nurses from 3B especially Cassandra and Allison. A special thank you to Dewayne’s family Doctor, Dr. Edward Hirvi and his palliative care Doctor, Dr. Sharon Buehner, and Aly for her in home care, he looked forward to your Wednesday visits.
