Obituary of Maria Martella
On Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the age of 76 our beloved and devoted mother passed away peacefully at ARCH. She is finally reunited with the love of her life, Domenic, and suffers no more. Loving mother of Cora Severini (Joe), Cosimo Martella (Marisa) and John Martella (Michelle). Cherished and loved Nonna of Dante Severini, Daniel, Michaela and Sophia Martella. Daughter of the late Antonio and Luisa Barile. Sister of Nicola Barile (Louise) and Cora Barile of New York, Felice (Michelina) and Alessandro Barile (Antonietta) of Italy. Sister-in-law of the late Gennaro Martella (Martha), Giovanna DeCesare (late Angelo), late Christina Carlascio (late Felice), late Giuseppe Martella (Angela), late Pasquale (Rose) of Australia and Nicola Martella (Nicolina) of Cleveland. Mom will be missed by many nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.
Mom was a very kind, giving and selfless person. She was an exceptional grandmother to her grandchildren who she adored. She treated everyone like family and her favorite saying was “I Love You”. She was known for her amazing hugs and kisses to anyone she met. She never judged, and she loved unconditionally. Her devotion to the church and family were her top priorities.
Mom we love you and miss you but will keep your memories close to fill the void you left in our hearts. Sundays will continue to be our special family day. You are in pain no longer and now with Dad. Start cooking up a storm in Heaven’s kitchen especially with your lasagnas and genettis.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Masks and social distancing are required. The use of hand sanitizer is appreciated. A private family Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church with Father Paul Conway officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to ARCH, SAH Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Mom was cared for by so many special people along her journey including her PSWs Patty, Caitlind and Kelly. A thank you to Angel Santa Maria for her kindness and compassion towards mom and our families during our time of need. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses on Floor 3B who took care of mom during her stay at the hospital including Dr. Shaffie, Dr. Fera and Dr. White. Thank you for the care and compassion you showed mom and our families during this difficult time. A special thank you to the entire staff at ARCH who made sure mom was comfortable and cared for. We are forever grateful.
Forever in our hearts.
We love you Ma.
