Mr. Dumanski was my teacher for gr. 10 Religion at the Mount. He was engaging, funny, and so very kind.
In the 30-some years since, I’ve enjoyed chance encounters with Mr. D - whether at the funeral home, the voting station, even once at Avalanche Bay. He never seemed to age, always remembered your name, and picked up, like no time had passed. Thinking of him still makes me smile.
Extending heartfelt condolences to the Dumanski family. May your many memories continue to bring you comfort.
Sincerely,
Delia Grandinetti

Our deepest condolences to you Jane, Marnie, Karen, & the whole family. We were so sad to hear about Marty. He definitely was a very special person to our family…he was family…and always made our vacations in the Soo so memorable. He always went out of his way to connect with everyone and was always there with a quick joke, smile, and a helping hand. We can’t thank him and your family enough for taking such good care of our grandparents all those years. He will be sadly missed by all but never forgotten. Much love, Richard, Daniel, & Sara.

To the Dumanski family: please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of such a wonderful man. Mr. Dumanski taught me back in high school in the 80s and I have such wonderful memories of such a kind and gentle and thoughtful man. Over the years when I would return to the Soo and bump into him he always remembered me and always was so thoughtful and kind. More recently I would bump into him on occasion at the Davey home when visiting my mom. Again just always such a kind, thoughtful man…always showing great interest in myself and my family and how we were doing. I was so sad to hear the news of his recent diagnosis and very sudden passing. I know the prayers of many people are holding you, his family, up right now and I hope in some small way you will find some peace in that. I also hope you feel great pride in knowing that this very kind and loving soul touched so many people over the years! May God bless you and keep you. So sorry for your loss! Dear Mort, the news of your passing was not only devastating but also numbing. Even though we lived many miles apart we always managed to keep in touch. When I accepted a teaching position in Brampton I never worried about my parents as you were always there to attend to their immediate needs. When we spent summers in the Soo we would reconnect to have dinners together and play cards. Making sausage with you was always an event full of jokes and much laughter. You would even find the time to entertain my children in your pool or better yet take Carmen Jr, fishing for rainbows or golfing. Travelling to Florida and spending time with you and Jane driving through Jupiter in the Mustang convertible was indeed an adventure.
Jane, on behalf of the entire Spada family we extend our deepest condolences to you and the entire family. Our thoughts and prayers will be with all of you not just today but for many days as we all personally grieve his legacy. A great loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and most importantly our BEST FRIEND. Till we meet again.

I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Dumanski’s passing. He taught at my elementary school in the west end, St. Mary’s during the 70’s. I did not have him as a teacher but I always had great respect for him. I will always remember that he came to my dad’s funeral over 30 years ago. I would see him over the years and he was always smiling. Some friends and I had some pictures of our Gr. 7/8 school trip to Toronto during 1976 and we came across some that had Mr. Dumanski in it. The quality isn’t very good after all these years but I thought you would like to see them. Once again please accept my deepest condolences.

Uncle Marty.
I literally grew up with you, Aunty Jane, Marnie and Karen, every summer when we would visit Nonno Romeo and Grandma Al in the Soo. You were like a second son to them and we always knew they were well taken care of when we had to leave for the start of school.
I will always cherish the memories of riding my tricycle to your house, having the girls babysit us, making sausages, playing Trump and swimming in your pool (which somehow had a magical red dye that would surround any child who peed it…needless to say I never tested the theory!).
I am so happy you were able to come down to enjoy our ‘Wedding Night in Canada’ (picture attached)…I think you, Carmen Jr and I were the only Red Wings fans there!
We are sending big hugs, prayers and condolences to Aunty Jane and the rest of the family. We will miss you dearly.

Jane and Family, My condolences on Marty's passing. Be assured of my prayers for Marty, you and your family. Marty lived his life well and offered an example of Christ as husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend. Our hearts are filled with sadness at his loss but we know that in the life he lived, the love he shared and the faith he possessed he is with God. With this assurance we find hope. Marty now sees God face to face receiving wholeness in God. With this we remember that it is not goodbye but until we meet again. Once again my continued prayers. Sincerely, Fr. Pat

We are saddened by the loss of Marty. Marty was my next door neighbour for most of my formative years. I still remember the many lessons I learned from Marty.
We shared a driveway. It was my duty to shovel our driveway but it was hard work for a young lad. Many times I would arrive home from school, or whatever activity I was involved with, and both sides of the driveway were shoveled. How did he find the time with two young children and all his other obligations? It taught me about gratitude and thankfulness. He was quick to show his appreciation when I would return the favour.
He and Jane had never-ending patience with this rambunctious neighbour kid and friends.
Every one will know Marty was particular about his property. Somehow he found the patience to deal with me and my friends. Retrieving balls from his and Jane's yard and gardens, marks on the garage door from the street hockey balls, using the basketball net on their garage, picking their crab apples for the neighbourhood crab apple wars and on and on.
My biggest memory of Marty is his constant smile as he jumped into that blue Maverick, rushing to another one of his many family and reffing duties. The smile will surely be missed.
Our condolences to the family.

Mr. Dumanski was the best. He taught me during my eighth grade year of 1969-70 at St. Theresa’s, one of his first as a full time teacher. Not only did he teach content, he taught life lessons. He was the first teacher who challenged me to work harder in order to reach my true potential, and not just coast through life. He turned my whole life around and, as a result, set the stage for my successful academic and professional lives. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing and of his obvious struggle with a terrible disease, ALS. RIP Mr. Dumanski. From Wayne Yakich, Scottsdale, Arizona.
