Obituary of Eugene Hunnie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Eugene at his home on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the age of 84. Spoiled and devoted husband of Janet (Drawson) for 65 years. Loving father of the late Randy Hunnie (Tammy), late Rick Hunnie (Gina) and Tim Hunnie (Nicole). Doting grandpa of Michelle Guerriero (Keith), Ashley Hunnie, Chris Gramola (Amanda), Jacob Hunnie and Alanna Hunnie. Proud great grandpa of Hannah, Isaac, Daved, Axel-Gray, Steele and Zephyr. Great-great grandpa of Ryleigh. Predeceased by his parents John and Kay Hunnie of Manitoba. Brother of the late Pat (Maurice Brunette), Ron (Doreen), late Phyllis (Rick Mousseau) and Debi (Larry Mozel). He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Gene was a retired iron worker, who loved gardening, fishing, hunting, cottage life, watching sports on tv, snuggling with his grandbabies, and spending time with his family. He was known for his love of food, sneaking cookies to bed, getting caught cheating at card games and his home-grown tomatoes were the envy of anyone who knew him. 

A private service will be held for immediate family members only. A celebration of Eugene’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
