Obituary of Francisco Marques
Passed away peacefully after a long and valiant battle with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) on Sunday, November 21, 2021 in his 61st year. Beloved husband and dance partner for life of Amelia for 39 years. Loving father of Ashley (Antonio), Steven (Adrienne). Proud Avo of Francisco Jose and Rosa Maria. Son of Otilia and the late Antonio Marques. Brother of Henrique, Jose, George, and Augusta. Son-in-law of Irene and the late Duarte Carpinteiro. Brother-in-law of Sara (Ray) and the late Manuel Carpinteiro. Special uncle of Alyssa and Breanna Carpinteiro. Frank will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family in Europe and the USA.
Born in Angola in 1961, Frank moved with his parents and siblings to Sault Ste. Marie. He had a passion for all things soccer including playing, coaching, and refereeing, but most of all, the pride he had from having his children enjoy that same passion. He even met his favourite player, Pele and attended the FIFA World Cup in Brazil in 2014. He loved to cheer on his favourite team, Benfica. Above all, family was most important to Frank. He was always willing to help family and friends alike, no matter what was needed. He enjoyed travelling with the love of his life to new places, experiencing not only the culture, but especially the food and drinks of the region. He was also involved with the Canadian Portuguese community and was always willing to volunteer and help in any way. He also enjoyed bringing his friends to experience his culture, of which he was very proud of. There was never anyone who met Frank that didn’t automatically become his friend.
