Obituary of Lloyd William Mulcahey

Please share a memory of Lloyd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Lloyd at home surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, January 31, 2022 in his 90th year. Devoted and loving husband to the love of his life, “his princess” Rosita (Adduono) for 64 years. Cherished and much loved father of Gary (Samantha Dalby), Gerry, late Danny (Tracy Beacom), and Hilary McCaig (Kevin). Proud and devoted Poppa of Tyler, Tayler (Reno Labonte) and the late Tanner Marie who welcomed him home. Great Poppa of Ace Alexander, who was his pride and joy. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Evelyn (Boucher). Loving brother of Sister Celia Mulcahey, Doreen (Mike Hickey), Patrick (Dara), Teresa and predeceased by Rev. Harris Mulcahey, Robert (Rita) and Lawrence (Diane). Son-in-law of the late Joseph and the late Mary Adduono. Special brother-in-law of Lena and the late Eli Palmer who Lloyd enjoyed spending his afternoons with having coffee, cookies and cakes. Special cousin of the late Basil (late Alice) and Sister Patricia Milks. Loved by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lloyd was employed at Algoma Steel until he retired at the age of 55 and along with Rosita owned and operated the Bawating Quik Mart until 1992. He loved all sports including fastball, golf, cross-country skiing and curling but his biggest love was hockey. Lloyd and his good friend, Bud Hooper, were advocates of equal ice time for all kids who paid to play recreational hockey in the Sault. Our dad had character and stood for what was right. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting in his younger years and as his grandson Tyler would say “he tried to catch fish”.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Tire JumpStart Sault Ste. Marie or the SAH Cancer Care Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family. Thank you to the nurses and PSWs at Bayshore, especially Lisa and Leo, and Alita Home Care, especially Renne and Denise for the care and compassion shown to Lloyd and his family. A heartfelt thank you to the SAH staff on 3C including Dr. J, Dr. Fera, Dr. Wilson and Dr. Bowen. A special thank you to Dr. Fritz for the care given to Lloyd over the years. Thank you to Father Trevor Scarfone for the special home visits.
