David Marsh

Obituary of David Marsh

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., David Edward Marsh passed peacefully with his family by his side. Though his body was tired, right into his last hours, he still enjoyed listening to his favourite music and tapped his foot or fingers to the beat of a song. David was a devoted, kind, honest man and led his life with great integrity. When he gave his word, you knew it was gold. He would see a commitment through no matter what the cost and he often referred to that quality as endurance.

Dave knew how to live joyfully, make every day fun, and was always up for a good adventure. Travelling (Getting out of Dodge) was what he always looked forward to in life. When he wasn’t doing that, a walk on the hub trail, talking about the good ‘ol days and his 57 Chev. One of the last things that he said was “Live to the fullest.” He meant it.

Born in Hawk Junction on September 21, 1941 to his parents the late John and Lucille Marsh. Married for 57 years to the love of his life, Lois “Buttercup”. They created a life and bond together that most could only imagine in a romance novel. They loved each other fiercely never caring who was watching. They travelled, adventured, biked, hiked and could map out the best organized pub crawl in Sault Ste. Marie and all of lower Michigan. If you wanted to have a good time, a hang out with Dave would fill your cup with laughter and happiness. David lived on his terms until he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle. Dave was a kind and gentle soul and that loving nature remained with him until the end –  Dave had a fabulous sense of humour and ability to capture a room with his smile and laughter.

David’s children Paul (Janice), Greg and Laura (Brandon) will miss him every day of their lives and are very proud to call him Dad and a friend. David’s Grandchildren Katherine, Jenna (Cody), Wyatt David, Alison, and Nash will miss him tremendously. His late brother Dale (Miriam), late sister Gaye Guzzo (Frank), brother and sisters-in-law Marie Donnelly (Keith), late Anita Madill, Ralph Madill, Donald Madill (Christine), and Ruthie Madill. Much loved Uncle of Randy, Susan, Janet, Lyle, Jack, Frank, Barry, Chris, Pamela, Raymond, Julie, Jennifer, Kim”ba”, Lisa, and Renee. Dave will also be missed by all of his golf buddies and many other close friends he made in his and his wife Lois’ adventures along the way. He will also be missed by many close coworkers he kept in touch with from his 36 years in Algoma Steel, and many people met over years of biking, cross country skiing and curling.
