Obituary of Clayton Wishman
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Clayton at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, shortly after his 90th birthday. Beloved husband and friend of Verna for 70 years. Loved father of Rhonda Angeconeb (late Albert), Rodney (Linda), Terry (Debbie), Tim (Annette) and Kevin (Jeanne). Proud grandfather of 14, great grandfather of 17 and great great grandfather of 4. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Margaret. Brother of the late Kae Van Norman (late Harvey), late Ken (late Bertha) and the late Jim (Pat). Brother-in-law of the late Rita Inch, Clara Snedden (late Dave) and Clifford Singleton (Lynda). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Clayton will be sadly missed by his family, friends, card playing friends, the Leeburn Seniors and the Rock Lake Christian Campground.
Born in Klock, Ontario in 1932, he moved to Bruce Mines in 1942 where he met Verna Singleton and they wed on October 3, 1951. They moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1954, where they raised five children. Clayton held several retail positions and worked at Algoma Steel as a roll turner until the layoffs in 1982. They returned to Bruce Mines and opened Wishman’s General Store and Upholstery Shop, which they owned and operated for 13 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held at Emmanuel United Church on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Ferguson officiating. At the request of the family, masks are to be worn for all services. Interment to follow at Cloudslee Cemetery. Memorial donations to Emmanuel United Church or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Dr. John Beduhn, the staff of 3C and the emergency department at the SAH and EMS/paramedics for their care and compassion.
