Obituary of Charles Cliffe
It is with deep sadness that the family of Charlie announces his peaceful passing at Extendicare Maple View on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the age of 88. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Lorna (Montgomery) of 66 years. Cherished father of Lori Dwyer (late Ted), Joanne Boucher (Dave) and Michael (Michele). He was the proud grandfather of Jordan Boucher (Brittney), Emma Cliffe (Anthony) and Clovie Cliffe. Special great grandfather of Hudson Charles Cliffe (AKA “Little Charlie”). Son of the late Herbert and the late Madeleine Cliffe. Brother of the late William (late Karen).
Charlie was a man of integrity, honesty, loyalty and strength. He was the third-generation owner of Cliffe Printing Co. for many years. In addition to being a long term dedicated Rotarian member, President and District Governor, Charlie was also a committed volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society (Provincial Board of Directors and past President of the SSM unit). He also served as a board member of the Algoma Child and Youth Foundation and the Sault Ste. Marie Conservation Authority. In his free time, he spent many summers with family at Pancake Bay and in later years, Rose Lake. He loved music and enjoyed playing the keyboard. He was a talented photographer and painter. Anything Charlie did, he did it whole heartedly. People were drawn to him by his good nature, his friendly manner and firm handshake. He will be truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A special thank you to all the caregivers at Extendicare Maple View Tunnel Lake for the care and compassion shown to Charlie and his family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
