Obituary of Patricia Ann Palumbo
Some people only walk this earth for a short time and their absence reminds us that angels are watching over us. On Friday, August 5, 2022 at the age of 66 years, Patricia got her wings and went to walk with the angels.
She is the loving and devoted mother of Christine Whalen (Harry) and Michael Hearty (Pam). Cherished grandma of Kayla Heart, Justin Warmington and Mackenna and Mya Bouchard. Adored great grandma of Jessa Hearty. Predeceased by her parents Earl and Millie “Amelia” Palumbo. Much loved sister of Helen King (Ross). Special aunt of Matthew King and the late Melanie King. She will be fondly remembered by her niece and close friend, Cathy Mongrain, along with many other beloved friends.
One of Pat’s greatest achievements was her graduation from Algoma University and then Nipissing Teachers College with the highest marks in her programs. Although a certified teacher, life had a different path for her, and she would go on to manage and operate the family business, Millie’s Mini Mart, for over 31 years. It is there that the customers and staff alike became Pat’s dear friends. Her genuine, kind and caring soul made it easy to build great friendships and for her to become a much-loved pillar in the community. She had become a part of some people’s every day lives, and she touched so many.
First and foremost, Pat was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She treasured each one of them selflessly and tirelessly to provide opportunities for her family. She especially loved her role as “Grandma Pat” to her littlest sidekick, Jessa. If the two were not together at Grandma Pat’s or Millie’s Mini Mart, then you could find them chatting on FaceTime for hours on end. Pat’s favourite pastime and other loved role was as the number one fan of her son Mike and his #20 race car. Watching Mike race and being a part of the racing community brought her much joy each race season. Those who knew Pat, would know how incredibly proud she was of Mike and how far he has come with perseverance and strength throughout the years.
While Pat’s family grieves their tragic loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honours her spirit. Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Pat’s life on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the Moose Lodge (543 Trunk Road) from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the ARCH, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
