Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday September 2, 2022 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Leonard. Cherished mother of Zvonko (Dorothy) of Saskatoon and Miriam of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving Baka to John (Jacalyn), Peter (Danielle), Laura (Roger), Kristina and Adriana. Baka to great grandchildren Sofija, Madeline and Luke (Zeljeznak), Chloe and Amy (Zeljeznak), and Alexa and Ariel (Sherwin). Lifelong best friend of Lucy Pintaric (late Mike) and her children Bill (Neola) and Slav Szymberski (Mark) and families. Predeceased by her parents Petar and Alojzija Cigić, brothers Ivan, Franjo, Josip, Mijo and sisters Marija, Ana, Barbara, Alojzija of Bubnjarci, Croatia.

 

Our Mother and Baka was happiest when her family and friends were gathered around the table to enjoy her delicious cooking and baking. She adored spending time tending to her roses and vegetable garden. Her heart never left her beloved Croatia. She demonstrated that in her adopted country of Canada by her tireless work and dedication to the Sault Ste. Marie Kolo Dancers and Tamburitza Orchestra by sewing dozens of national costumes for the members of the ensemble. She was also dedicated to Our Lady of the Highways CWL during the 1960s and 1970s organizing and managing fundraising banquets and bake sales for the Church.

 

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at 12 noon at Our Lady of the Highways Church with Father Veselko Kvesic officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to Our Lady of the Highways Church, Sault Area Hospital Foundation or Mauno Kaihla Koti (Ontario Finnish Rest Home) would be appreciated.
