She was an Aunty, Great aunt, cousin and friend of many.

Betty was born in Blind River and chose life in her terms. She had 6 children and was determined to make a life on her terms. She journeyed with the love of her life, husband Peter. She was fierce and equally kindhearted, helping all her family in time of need. Her home welcomed all – flaws n’ all. At 65 she would return to school and graduate Grade 12. Her legendary gifts left behind were instilled and skills shared. Her love of nature; she taught to see the beauty in mother earth as well the remedies they would provide. She would say “always respect the water, for it gives life and takes life”. Back road treasure hunting gave way to many adventures. She was an achieved baker, which she loved to share freely, and you would leave with your favorite. She was an avid reader and handed down her love of words and books. “Ma, what you up to?” “Oh, I’m wetting my lips (glass of wine) “You know” she would say “maybe some people wouldn’t think it’s lady like” “but then again, I ain’t like any other lady” Spot on as usual mom… spot on. To the lady who had no airs about her and answered to Bingo Betty, Betty this ain’t no Crocker, Betty Mae, Liz and the always treasured Mom and Grammi, you will be missed, forever loved and thought of often.

As per Betty’s request, a celebration of life will be held at the Grand Gardens (1324 Great Northern Rd) on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
