It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alice at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, after a brief illness. Alice passed peacefully with her 3 children at her side.

 

Alice was born September 19, 1937, to Vern and Tillie Maki, and married her high school sweetheart, soul mate and best friend, Gordon Pitt (1935-2002). Alice will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Douglas Pitt (Lorna), Sharon Nadeau (Norm) and Kevin Pitt (Teresa). She was a loving and caring grandmother to 7 grandchildren, Zach (Melissa), Dirk (Alisha), Danielle (Dan), Cal (Amanda), Megan (Stanley), Andrea and Nadia (Tom). Alice was known as “Mumma” and will be sadly missed by 6 great grandchildren, Savannah, Hailey, Parker, Hunter, Colt and Emma. Deeply saddened are her brother Keith Maki (Susan) and sister Norma Carriere (late Leo). Predeceased by sister Ruth Lacoste (Andre). Alice will be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their children. She leaves behind so many dear friends, who have meant the world to her. Alice, always active, ever caring and generous, will be truly missed, but never forgotten and will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to have known her.

 

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Ontario Finnish Rest Home Association (OFRA) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
