Edith Ahearn

Obituary of Edith Mary Ahearn

The Ahearn family is sad to announce the passing of Edith at the age of 96. Wife of the late Fredrick Peter Ahearn (RCNVR 1942-45), both born in Sault Ste. Marie. Edith is survived by her 2 sons Sean (Sherri) and Kevin and her daughter Sheila, her 2 granddaughters Brandi (Andy) and Rebecca and her great granddaughter Eve. We will all miss her very much.

Edith herself was a veteran. She built Lancaster Bombers from 1942-1945. She left home in Hawk Junction at 16 years old to travel to Toronto to join the war effort. These women were true war heroes and deserve recognition from our government. The family asks that you send an email to erika.lashbrookknutson@veterans.gc.ca asking that these women who worked for the war effort be recognized for their service.

After the war Edith went into the insurance business, working for such companies as Allstate, Home Insurance, Abstainers, and finally The Personal where she finally retired at the age of 75.

Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
