Obituary of Giovanni Bruni

BRUNI, Giovanni “John” - It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and nonno, John, on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the age of 69. Beloved husband and best friend of Anna (nee Cuglietta) for 45 beautiful years. Loving, selfless, and dedicated father of Joe (Emily), Antonio (Amanda), Melissa (Todd Innis), and Amanda (Antonio Metallo). Proud nonno of his princesses Ava and Olivia, Abigail, Hannah and Isabella, and honorary nonno of Santino.

Born on April 20, 1953, in Aiello Calabro, Italy, Giovanni was the cherished son of the late Giuseppe Bruni and the late Santa Bruni (nee Coccimiglio). Loving brother and best friend of Gaspare (Eva). Son-in-law of the late Isabella Cuglietta, and Settimio and Mafalda Cuglietta. Dear brother-in-law of Silvana Pileggi and John Cuglietta (Lydia). Adored uncle of Santina and Giuseppe Bruni (Lachin), Isabella, Joe (Elizabeth), and Frank Pileggi (Liz), and Jake (Miranda) and Marina Cuglietta. Special Compare of Ugo Bruni, Steven Shoemaker, Nadia Tassone, and Jake Cuglietta. He will be fondly remembered by his many extended family, cousins and friends in Italy and Canada, including Greg and Franca Shoemaker, Geniale and Marisa Polito, Tony and Barbara Carello, and Terry Burns.

John showed his love and commitment to family through service. A selfless and generous man, he was always willing to put the needs of others before his own. As a person of few words, he spoke loudly through his actions. No matter how busy life became, he always made time for his family and loved ones. He challenged life’s hardships through his incomparable work ethic, patience, humility, and gentle demeanor. We will forever miss and cherish the twinkle in his eye, his smile, wisdom, witty sense of humour, and bounce in his step.
