Charles Caple

Obituary of Charles David Caple

My beloved husband has left me; why did he have to go?

Loving husband and best friend of Beverly for almost 60 years. Precious father of Laura (late Ken) of Morrisburg, Ontario, Lucy (Richard) of Kelowna, BC and Lesley of Ottawa, Ontario. Proud grandfather of Christopher (Emily) of Bowmanville, Ontario, Ivy (Blake) and Abby of Kelowna, BC. Predeceased by his parents Walton and Ina. Brother of the late Bob (Margaret), Ralph (Verna), Ed (Marion), Don (Gwen). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dave passed away seven days before his 92nd birthday. He passed away at Sault Area Hospital after a short three-week long battle with cancer. Up until then, he and Bev were enjoying an active lifestyle.

Dave worked at Algoma Steel as a bricklayer, retiring in 1987 after nearly forty years of service. Dave and Beverly met in Petoskey, Michigan and married in June 1963. He enjoyed fishing for many years in St. Mary’s rapids and bird hunting. In their retirement years, Bev and Dave travelled to many interesting places such as, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico as well as several other parts of North America.  Over the years, you may have frequently seen Dave and Bev riding their bicycles or walking around the city and walking in Station Mall in recent years. They also enjoyed trips to the casino to test their luck!

Bev would like to extend her gratitude to the many health-care workers at the Sault Area Hospital who gave such great care in Dave’s last days.

At Dave’s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society, Sault Area Hospital Foundation, ARCH, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
