Ida Coluni

Obituary of Ida Coluni

Peacefully passed away in her 96th year on April 21, 2023 at Sault Area Hospital with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Luigi Coluni. Loving mother of Sistina Roy (Ron) and Sandra Paradiso (Carmine). Special Nonna of Nick (Young Ji), Michael (Ashlie) and Thomas (Cara). Great Nonna of Ronny Jae, special angel Ava Grace, Penelope, Ashton and Mila. Daughter of the late Carmine and Maria Luigia Gallo. Dear sister of Anna DiCerbo (Lorenzo), late Pasquale, late Luigi Gallo (late Elena) and predeceased in Italy by sisters Erminia and Rosalia Special sister in law of the late Raffielina Milano (late Frank). Predeceased by brother in laws and sister in laws in Italy. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and Italy.

Born in Alife, Caserta, Italy in 1927, Ida immigrated to Canada and settled in Sault Ste. Marie. She married Luigi and together they built a loving family and home for their daughters. She was an amazing, strong, independent woman who took great joy in making others happy. She was a fantastic cook, her favorite phrase was “mangia, mangia”. The simple things in life made her happy and she never felt the need to complain. Family was her top priority, and she welcomed everyone to her home. As the family grew, she shared many wonderful memories and celebrations with the extended Roy and Paradiso families. She was a special Nonna and a very proud great Nonna. We know Nonna’s tomato sauce making will continue every fall as a very special tradition.

A special thank you to Dr. Ianni and Dr. Jarrett for the many years of excellent care. To Dr. Oliver and Dr. Apostle, thank you for your compassion, understanding, expertise and special care. To the nurses and PSW’s of 3B, you truly are angels. You made our mother comfortable and treated her and our family with much compassion and respect. We would also like to thank our family and friends for all the prayers, love and support during this time.

Ma, we will deeply miss you, but we know you are together with Dad again and are tending to your beautiful garden in Heaven.
