Obituary of Francis Lapointe

At the age of 73, after a short illness, Francis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) with his wife and sister by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of Valerie for almost 52 years. Cherished father of his three daughters: Dawn Marie, Jacqueline and Karen Marrocco (Joey). Fun loving Grandpa of Joshua Lapointe-Noel of Mississauga, Kai Meyer and Chase Meyer both of Sault Ste. Marie. Son of the late Noah and the late Anna Lapointe. Son-in-law of the late Frank and the late Anne Tesarsky. Brother of Jackie Connell of Ottawa and Dennis Lapointe (Sheila) of Pembroke. Brother-in-law of Barbara Schmidt (late Richard) of Edmonton and the late Joanne and Lester Hill of Fort Frances. Special uncle of Gregory Connell (Kelly) of Ottawa, Brad Connell (David Cameron) of Ottawa, Steven Connell of Pembroke, Dennis Schmidt (Bobbi) of Edmonton, Ryan Hill of Corunna, Kyla Schmidt (Bruno) of Toronto and Lindsey Edwards (Mike) of Thunder Bay. Special friend of Terry, Dan and Dave. Loved by many others including cousins, friends and former co-workers.

Francis loved four-wheeling, camping and bird hunting. He loved spending time outdoors and those times were made more special when he could do it with the people he loved. He loved telling stories and was a master joke-teller. He was a man of great curiosity and always so generous with his time.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations to ARCH, SAH Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Francis’ family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at ARCH for his brief but comforting time in his final hours and to the staff of Sault Area Hospital Emergency Department and 3B where he received excellent care from several physicians including Dr. George, Dr. Dawson, Dr. Buehner and Dr. Sharpe. Special thanks to 3B nurses Shania, Andrew, Krissi and Funda. Your compassion and attention to Francis and his family during the unimaginable time will never be forgotten.
