Obituary of Karen Corbiere
(Northern Lights Woman) - Born to the late Calvin Corbiere and the late Adelene Corbiere (nee Robinson) of Batchewana First Nation on May 15, 1966 made her journey to the spirit world joining many ancestors before her Friday, June 2, 2023. Karen was the only sister to her three brothers, Harold (Bo) Corbiere, John Corbiere and Henry (Hank) Corbiere and mother to the love of her life, her cherished daughter Kaitlyn Irving. Karen leaves behind her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Karen ended her short but hard fight with cancer after only 6 months. She lived her life with compassion, honestly, integrity, respect and traditional beliefs and she treated everyone that she interacted with in kind. She wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off her back, but not before giving you a talking to on why you lost your shirt to begin with and how not to do it again. She was a beautiful soul, full of bright ideas and was an incredibly passionate person. She loved cooking, playing and crafting with the kids at the youth centre and loved her Gen7 crew who she would have worked with forever. A heartfelt thank you to the palliative care team, nurses and PSWs on 3C at the Sault Area Hospital for their care and compassion. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
Baamaapii— because there’s no such thing as goodbye.
