Brent McCauley

Obituary of Brent Hugh McCauley

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I announce the passing of my amazing husband on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the age of 59. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. Brent, you filled my life with so much love and laughter. Not a day went by that we didn’t find something to giggle about. I sometimes think God put you on this Earth just for me. I was so incredibly blessed to have you in my life.

Beloved husband and best friend of Carole. Dear father of Shelbi, Katie (Jake), David and Jayme. Proud GrandPa of Jakob, Nick, Asryia, Seth and Ryen. Son of Jean McCauley and the late Bob. Brother of Judy Mitchell (Roger), Robert (Stephanie), late Barry, Larry and Gail Trumble. Brother-in-law of Stacey Gardner and Rob Gardner (Sherri). Predeceased by his grandparents Mary & Howard McCauley and Paul & Etha Bourdage. He was a special friend to his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

You were so kind and loving and it was evident to all who knew you. You were so nice to absolutely everyone. People would stop by, and you would make sure they had a chair and a table for their drinks. I will miss pulling our trailer up to Pancake or down some old bush road or even just sitting in the trailer in our yard when the bugs were swarming.

Oh, how you loved going down to Aunt Carol’s where your family would gather and so much laughter was had sitting by the campfire and many a crib game was played. You always had a smile on your face and a nice cold Blue in your hand.

Well, my darling, our world is now a little dimmer with you not here, but the stars are much brighter. For almost 30 years this wonderful man showed me so much love, strength, courage and kindness with his big, beautiful heart. Now I ask you, Lord, to give me the strength, courage, guidance and wisdom to go on without him. So, my love, I will not say goodbye. I will say till we meet again. Forever in my heart.

A Celebration of Brent’s life will take place at a later date. In honour of Brent’s cousin, Bobby Jones, donations to the ALS Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to take this time to thank the incredible people in my life that are helping me through: Katie, Jake, Karen, Daryll, Judy, Rodger, Robbie, Stephanie, Ron Reid, Rob, Sherri, Gwen, Tom, Stacey and the countless others for your thoughtfulness, cards, hugs, food and well wishes. It means so much to me. I also want to thank Amanda and her partner in the Cancer Clinic for the kindness and compassion they showed to Brent and for being there when the awful news was given to me. You, my dear, are truly an amazing nurse. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).

Your wings were ready, but my heart was not.
