Donald LaCroix

Obituary of Donald LaCroix

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don, with his wife by his side, at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Monday, July 3, 2023. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy. Loving father of Jeremy (Selena), Jennifer (Nathan), Shawn (Dodie), Sam (Otis), Charmaine (Jim), Darwin (Jen), Sarah, and Angie. Son of the late Alex and Ethel LaCroix. Dear brother of the late Shirley St. Jean (late Marcel), late George (Diane), Marty (Peggy), Ricky (late Valerie), Daniel (Rita), Ron (Sharon), Anita Baker (Ken) and Cathy Baker (late Clifford). Son-in-law of the late Erv Nau (Ginny) and Jean Frichtel (Bob). Brother-in-law of Larry (Diana) and nephew Nathan (Heather). Don will be missed and loved by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, foster siblings, respites and friends.

Don had many great joys during his life. He was a proud miner in Elliot Lake and a musician. He loved camping, fishing (late Brandon McMillan), travelling and his passion was playing music with his family, friends and most of all his best friends Glen Robitaille, John and Jory. He lived life to the fullest and loved a good corny joke. Don will always be remembered as the #1 fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees.

Please join us in celebrating Don’s life, share his love of music, the memories and laughs about the good times and the silly times. Come with your smiles, songs, stories and all Montreal Canadiens and New York Yankees attire is welcome. The joyful Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the years of caring for Don at the Pacemaker Clinic, David O’Hara of IFC, and all of the palliative nurses. We are also forever grateful for our Harmony Family for all of their love, friendship and support helping Don live his life to the fullest.
