Obituary of Nancy Merrett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Nancy on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Sault Area Hospital. Beloved wife and best friend of Travis for 12 years. Cherished mother of Jessica King (Ahmad Alftieh) and Jenny King (Paris Johansen). Nancy will be missed by their father Dave King. Predeceased by her parents Elinore and William Bell and lovingly remembered by Clare. Sister of Allen Bell (Ola), David Bell (late Megan) (Susan Erhardt), Ken Bell (Leah Forst), Anneke de Zeeuw, Margriet Wright (Michael) and Linda Brennan (Buddy). Daughter-in-law of Sabrina and the late Paul Merrett. Sister-in-law of Krisha Anderson (Ryan). She will be fondly remembered by her cousins, and her nieces and nephews Catherine, Andrew, Connor, Alex, Steven, Stephanie, Julian, Abbey, Ella, and Axl. Nancy will be dearly missed by the Palmer, Wright, Bell, and Fawcett families. There was always a special place in Nancy’s heart for her two exceptional friends Tracey Herriman and Nancy Dovigi. The friendship that Nancy shared with each of them is beyond words, and she loved them both so deeply.

Nancy loved and lived a full life, including travelling, soaking up the sun, and listening to music. She was a dedicated hockey mom, and a devoted billet mom to so many Soo Greyhounds. Nancy enjoyed the finer things in life. She always enjoyed cooking, baking, hosting family and friends, and always being the life of the party. Stella, Nancy’s beloved dog, will miss her dearly. Nancy spent over 30 years at TD-Canada Trust where she made so many friends along the way.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial service to be held in the chapel on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Memorial donations to Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) or Sault Area Hospital Critical Care Fund.

We would like to thank the many medical teams who cared for Nancy with care and compassion over the years.
