Obituary of Serafino Burzese

Peacefully passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the age of 79. Beloved husband to the love of his life, Dora, for 52 years. Devoted father of Rob (Amy) and Gino (Detta). Proud Nonno of Hailey, Abigail, Arianna, Cassandra, Samantha and Sammy. Predeceased by his parents Gino and Giuseppina Burzese. Brother and best friend of Albert (Ruth). Son-in-law of the late Frank and the late Nella Gaudio. Special brother-in-law of Maria (late Orlando) and Silvana (Rino). Sam was loved by all, and he will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Italy.

Sam was a strong and selfless man who always prioritized his family. Despite battling Parkinson’s, he never complained and remained an inspiration to everyone around him. He was highly respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Gerard Majella Church at 1:00 p.m. with Father Charles Abiamiri officiating. A private graveside service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Meals on Wheels (Sault Ste. Marie) would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Cathy who made Sam’s days brighter and to the PSW team who supported Sam on his journey. To the ICU team, your guidance and care for Sam will never be forgotten.
