Obituary of John Patterson

Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Marthe (nee Barbarie) for 57 years. Devoted father and friend of Andrew (Lori) and Darryl (Nicole). Proud grandfather of Linsey, Caleb, Jacob and Amélie and great grandfather of Aidan. Predeceased by his parents Hubert and Blanche Patterson. Brother of the late Doreen Deluzio (late John), Margaret Patterson, late Ron Patterson (Rosemary), late David Patterson (late Carol), late Gloria Perlini (Gerald), Robert Patterson (Shelia) and Danny Patterson (Susan).

John loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking, cross country skiing and was a graceful skater. He worked at A&P as a Produce Manager and spent a short time as the Store Manager, he then retired after dedicating 37 years to the store. John was a proud member of the Echo Bay Elks where he spent time as the Exalted Ruler. During the hockey season, you could find him cheering on the local Soo Greyhounds and the Toronto Maple Leafs. John was an avid collector of coins and artwork of birds.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Gerard Majella on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie would be greatly appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Extendicare Van Daele for the care and compassion shown to John.
