Obituary of Antonio Cuglietta

Surrounded by much love on a beautiful fall day, Tony peacefully passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH). 

Beloved husband of Mary Cuglietta (nee Bruni) for 58 years. Loving father of Ralph Cuglietta (Carmela), Emily Thibodeau (Rob Wildman) and Melinda Travis (Curtis). Adored Nonno of Simone Thibodeau, Antonio Travis and Ada Travis. Predeceased by his parents Raffaele and Emilia Cuglietta and his sister, Mary Pucci (late Enrico). Son-in-law of the late Vincenzo and the late Elvira Bruni. Dear brother-in-law of Dr. Joseph Bruni (Veronica), Nanda Ianni-Palarchio (late Mike), Carla Ruggeri (Ermanno), Anita Fata (Maurizio), Sylvester Bruni (late Diane) and Don Bruni (Rosemary Tassone). Uncle Tony was much loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews from the Bruni and Pucci families. Fondly remembered by Alain Thibodeau. 

A very generous, hardworking man, Tony arrived in Sault Ste. Marie as a 16-year-old from Aiello Calabro, Italy. He embraced his life in Northern Ontario and loved the outdoors. He will be missed by his fishing and hunting buddies, as well as his friends and neighbours at the family cottage in Batchawana. A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful friends and extended family for their love and support during Tony’s journey over the years. 

We sincerely thank Dr. Mark Jenkins and the staff of 3C at Sault Area Hospital for their care of Tony. There are not enough words to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Nicki Apostle and the compassionate staff and volunteers at ARCH, who provided excellent and respectful care to Tony and our family. It was a privilege to call ARCH our second home for the past two months and it will always have a special place in our hearts.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Rob Thibodeau officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in honour of Tony to ARCH or the charity of your choice.
