Grazia Gulli

Obituary of Grazia Gulli

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Grazia, our beloved Mother and Nonna passed away peacefully, with Rina holding her hand, as Dad took the other hand, and Maria guided the path.

Cherished wife of 52 years to the late Graziano. Beloved mother of the late Maria (Richard), Rina (Paul) and Joseph (Christine). Special Nonna of Makara Grace Gulli.

Sister of the late Francesco Fabiano (late Barbara)(late Maria), late Pietro Fabiano (late Lina), late Liberata Pitaro (late Antonio), late Caterina Gulli (late Vito), and Concetta Pitaro (late Giuseppe). Dear sister-in-law of the late Vincenzo Gulli (Maria Angela), late Domenico (Caterina), late Caterina Corrado (Francesco), late Teresina Tino (late Antonio), all of Chiaravalle Centrale, Italy. Zia to many nieces and nephews in the Gulli, Fabiano, Pellegrino, Parisi, Nicoletta, Macri, Corrado, Amato and Pitaro families in Sault Ste. Marie, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Cousin of the Iozzo family. Cumma to the DeLuca family, and friend to the Skorich and Lethbridge families.

Diplomatic and decent, fearless and fun, insightful and inclusive, she set the example for goodness and class.

She immigrated to Canada with Dad, and two month old Maria in 1960 to make a better life, and proceeded to create one filled with togetherness, imagination and faith. She worked at Bluebird Bakery and would often recount stories of the friendships formed there. A world class cook that would make a Michelin star chef weep with envy, she always extended her table, and set it with fresh soups, sauces, stews, bread, wine and blueberry pies, but most importantly, graciousness and generosity.

And yet, she was so much more than this. She loved unconditionally and was loved immeasurably. She was our confidante and our comfort, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

“Let your true beauty come from your inner personality, not a focus on the external, for lasting goodness comes from a gentle spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.” (Peter 3:4)

Special thanks to Dr. Barbeau and Dr. Taylor, distinguished professionals of the medical community, ICU and Third Floor staff, and the countless healthcare professionals, RPNs, PSWs, day program teams, who have taken excellent care of her over the years, both in her own home, and within her long-term care home, especially Trudy.

An additional note of gratitude is extended to the paramedics and the entire SAH Emergency Department staff, who consistently overachieve in a chronically under resourced environment, who completely and compassionately cared for her, every single time we needed their expertise. Every single time.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m., with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating.
