Obituary of Johnston Leigh

Peacefully passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the age of 91. Johnston was one of nine children who grew up on the family farm in Hawekstone Ontario, a place and time he held close to his heart and loved to share stories about. 

Johnston moved to the Sault as a young man and fell in love with the beauty of Northern Ontario and his wife of 69 years Shirley Carroll. Together, they raised four children Cindy Dubroy (Jerry), Cathy Leigh (Dell), Chris Leigh (Carol) and Carroll Nenchyn (Tim).  He was a devoted husband, father, and papa to his grandchildren Ryan, Lacey, Gillian, Sarah, Richard, and Rebecca.  He was also Poppa to 4 great grandchildren.

The Leigh family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses of SAH 3A-3B, Emergency, Bayshore Nursing, PSWs and Community Paramedic Services for their exceptional care shown to our Husband, Father, and Papa. 

Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah’s Witness (donate.jw.org/) would be appreciated by the family.
