Obituary of Adelina Scornaienchi
Romans 12: 7-8 (NLT)
If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden, yet peaceful passing of Adelina (Adele), wife, mom, and Nonna, in her home, on the early morning of Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the age of 85. Adelina has left the love of her life, Alfredo, with whom she had been married for 65 years. She was adored by her three children and their spouses, Sam Scornaienchi (Rona), Paul Scornaienchi (Lisa) and Mark Scornaienchi (Jennifer). Adelina was equally adored by her grandchildren, Justin (Sofia), Megan, Luke, Jacob, Samuel, Aidan, and Owen.
Born on March 11, 1938, Adelina was the last of nine children to the late Salvatore Presta and the late Maria Pasqua in Dipignano, Cosenza, Italy. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters and their incredible families: in Toronto late Raffaele Presta (late Giuseppina), late Alfredo Presta (late Anna Maria); in Sault Ste. Marie late Antonio Presta (late Maria); in Dryden late Giuseppe (late Kay); in Italy late Luciano, late Angela, late Assunta (late Antonio), and late Elvira (late Vincenzo).
Adelina was a special sister-in-law: in Sault Ste. Marie to late Maria Presta (late Antonio), late Giuseppe Scornaienchi (Ernestina), late Vincenzo Scornaienchi (late Gina), Alfonso Scornaienchi (Lena); in Italy to Franco Scornaienchi (Cenzina), Angelina Viapiano (Franco), Lydia Roccanova (late Franco). She always made sure they kept in touch with one another.
Adelina will be remembered as an amazing, selfless wife, mother, Nonna, and friend. She was incredibly giving of her time and love. She poured out her heart and soul to make her loved ones happy. Adelina was always warm and welcoming by opening her home to everyone. She will also be missed by all her nieces, nephews, best friends, neighbours, and beloved godchildren.
Arriving in Canada in 1958 on her honeymoon, Adelina raised an incredible family filled with compassion and unconditional love. She was known to spend her days in the garden with Alfredo or sharing a laugh with her loved ones. She was hardworking, accepting, and virtuous. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and was the most beautiful human being.
