Nora Tucci

Obituary of Nora Tucci

In her 103rd year, Nora passed away peacefully with family by her side. She left the world with the same grace that she lived by and was called to God on Thursday, December 6, 2023 to feast at his banquet. She was a loving, generous and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and was a beloved Noni to everyone who knew her. Nora was born in the beautiful little town of Bucchianico, Chieti, Italy to the late Pasquale and the late Giovina Marino. Predeceased by her late husband Amerigo. Mother of Gemma Chiarelli (Gene), and the late Alvaro “Al” Tucci (Judy). Loving grandmother to Carlee Rosso (Domenic), Richard Chiarelli (Chantal), Jessica Merlino (Vince), Justin Tucci and Kathryn Komsa (Christian). Great grandmother of Sam and Lucas Rosso, Ariella and Vivianna Merlino, Charlie Komsa, and Nicholas and Christian Chiarelli. Nora will join her three brothers, sister and many in-laws and special family members. When Nora was widowed at 45 years of age, her dedication to her young family and her strong work ethic allowed her to persevere. She became a custodian for the school board, where she learned English from her colleagues. Throughout her life, her family has always been her priority and as a result she formed lifelong friendships with special people in her life like her sister-in-law Mary Tucci and Mary Dilabio, who each called her almost daily. Their friendships were truly a gift.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Jerome’s Church on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 12:00 noon with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to St. Jerome’s Church or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

A special thank you to Great Northern Retirement Home, where she spent the last 6 years of her life. Their kindness, dedication and care towards her was greatly appreciated. A thank you also to the many nurses and Palliative doctors working in 3A and 3B at SAH. Noni was a true believer in the power of God and felt very blessed in her life. She then made it a point to always pass her blessings along to family, friends and those who cared for her.

In the loving words of our Noni, “God-a Bless!”
