Obituary of Dexter King
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dexter, surrounded by love with his family and friends by his side at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the age of 59.
Dexter will be forever loved by his partner and friend, Margaret Tremelling-King. He leaves behind their four beautiful children, Alexander King, Victoria King, Jacob King, and Faith King; his parents, Neville King and Rosemary King; his siblings, Mervyn King, Joanne King, Nim King, Ian King (Penny); his many nieces and nephews. Dexter will be dearly missed by his large extended family and cherished friends.
Born in Trinidad, he came to Toronto when he was a young boy with his parents and siblings. He was married and had four beautiful children. Later on, he moved to Sault Ste. Marie with his family.
Dexter was so proud of all his children. He always loved being a part of their lives. He would drive them to school and to their sporting events. Dexter was a sports enthusiast, and he was able to instill in his children a love of sports. Many enjoyable hours were spent attending soccer, baseball, ice skating, basketball, swimming, wrestling, judo, track and field, bodybuilding, kickboxing and gymnastics events with his family and friends.
Dexter was a fighter and never gave up when life was extremely difficult. Losing his eyesight didn’t stop him. He never wanted to give up his will to push forward in life to achieve his goals.
Dexter was one of a kind. He would give the shirt off his back to those in need even when he was in need. Dexter’s fun-loving side would often reveal his sense of humour and would leave family and friends in stitches. He cherished time spent with family and friends. These fond memories of Dexter are indelibly etched in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.
We love you always and forever Dexter.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life to honour Dexter will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
